SARA Monthly Meeting December 13 and Presentation on Building an Electric CAR

SARA's Monthly meeting is Saturday December 13 at 9:00am. Please plan to attend as we have some new things happening that we will announce. The meeting will be followed by a presentation by Jim KI0B at 10:00am. Remember your annual dues are due, and you'll need to be current with SARA to vote in the upcoming election in January.
Please review the minutes and finance reports before the meeting so we can approve them at the meeting.
BUILDING AN ELECTRIC CAR
On December 13th, Jim Stemwedel, KI0B will be presenting his experiences converting a 1994 Geo Metro to run completely on electric power. This presentation is not intended to explain how to build an electric car but more as an explanation of what one can expect if they take on a project like this.
Since Jim had no prior experience with building an electric or even modifying a gas powered car, his goal was do this as inexpensively as possible but still have a street legal vehicle when it was completed. The end product uses a G-29 shunt-wound motor, Curtis controller and PB-6 throttle, deep-cycle batteries from Fleet Farm—to mention few of the parts needed.
The presentation will include a PowerPoint, show and tell with some key electrical components on display, and some operator manuals. Hope you can attend.
