SARA Field Day 2010
The ARRL Field Day is just a week away. This year SARA will be holding its Field Day activities at the Oakdale Discovery Center. There is plenty of parking and it is handicap accessible. We will meet around 10:00 on Saturday June 26 to set up antennas and radios. We plan to start operating at 13:00 local time and shut down at 22:00. We will start operating again at 08:00 Sunday. No over night operators will be needed! The ARRL Field Day ends at 13:00 Sunday June 27 and it should take less than an hour to clean up. The location is being beaconed on APRS right now at SARA FD so you can check it out and no one will have to say they can’t find us!

We tried to keep FD simple and fun this year. We will have at least two stations and may run multiple modes from both stations. We will be running off grid power with power supplies indoors (or outdoors if you want) with WØOXB Specials (Center fed Zepp antennas). John W9LHG said he may even bring out his Elecraft K3 and operate. The University of Minnesota Space Grant Consortium Ballooning Team will be joining us for FD. They will be flying a tethered high altitude balloon with an ATV camera (weather permitting). We will have several slide shows running of SARA activities such as Remembering the Edmund Fitzgerald Split Rock special event station, the Wild Adventure Race, public service events, and much more.
For those who make eating and drinking a priority, we will have food and drink available too! We plan to Bar-B-Que on Saturday night and have donuts and coffee Sunday morning. We are looking for a few club members who would like to volunteer to put together lunches for Saturday or Sunday.
Please plan to join us to operate or just socialize and help out if you can.
Thanks and 73,
RicKØBRennan
