SARA April 2010 Program on Near Vertical Incidence Skywave (NVIS) propagation techniques

Join SARA members at our Saturday 6th member meeting at Boutwells Landing in Oak Park Heights MN, where the program will cover Near Vertical Incidence Skywave propagation techniques.

These techniques were extensively used during the Second World war Normandy landings and remain highly useful for 'close in' HF communications below 8MHz. NVIS was used by the US Military during the Iraq War and remains in use by the US Military and FEMA.

Many SARA members have a W0OXB "special" double extended Zepp (dipole) antenna which enables NVIS communications on 160m and 80m.

You are welcome to join SARA members at 7:30AM for their pre-meeting breakfast at Joseph's Restaurant in Stillwater off highway 36.

The program meeting will be at Boutwells Landing with the business portion of the meeting starting at 9AM and the presentation expected to kick off at 10AM.

Visit the main SARA web site www.radioham.org and use links Meetings - Social and Meetings - Monthly to get directions to the venues.
