Monthly meeting April 11 - Is Public Safety Communications Systems Ready for a Disaster?
The April Monthly meeting will have a presentation by Frank Karnauskas N1UW. Here is a short teaser about his presentation.
“Is this Radio System Going to Work When I Really Need It?”
After seven years, the 800 MHz Digital Trunked Public Service Radio System is starting to take hold on a statewide basis. The question often asked is “How reliable is this system, can it handle a truly large scale disaster, and how resilient is it to attack?”
Frank Karnauskas, N1UW, will try to provide you with information that can help you make up your mind for yourself on this and other questions. Frank has been involved with the system since its construction, test and early implementation. He served as contract training developer for both dispatch and first responder training. He continues to train county and local law enforcement, fire service, and emergency medical personnel as county subsystems are deployed throughout the state. As N1UW, Frank is also the current Minnesota Section Emergency Coordinator.
Bring your questions, rumors overheard, and opinions for an informative session and open discussion of this public safety radio technology.
See you there.
